Full Spectrum Birth Package

Whether or not this is your first birth, this monumental transition calls for a support team you trust. It takes time to build that trust with your care team and even loved ones—hence having several prenatal visits before going into labor.

You may be pregnant in a place without much community or with a family so big all you are seeking is an outside source to process all that’s coming up for you. Or, maybe you are somewhere in between the two.

Perhaps you don’t even know what a doula really does, but it’s been suggested to you by your doctor or someone who says they wished they had one. While I can explain what a doula does, there are many resources for that, so I prefer to share why I have chosen to be a doula and where I find great value in working with families from mid-pregnancy into the postnatal period.

Labor, birth, and the postnatal periods are some of the most vulnerable times of your life. There is lots of raw emotion and stimulation brought to the forefront. Families gain understanding about what to expect, get clear on what they want, and how to navigate plot twists that veer off their plans. As a result, birth becomes a smoother and less intimidating process. There is a balance between learning and reviewing all these things and being over-stimulated. This is part of the art of birth education and support.

During prenatal visits I get to know families I work with and how to best support them: love languages, communication, habits, and more beyond a birth plan. By the time labor begins, there is trust and comfortability in the relationship to say what they want or not.

In labor and birth, I am both a witness and a support person. In awe and immense gratitude to be in the space, the partner(s) and I can work together as a team in addition to the other care providers.

Postnatal time begins as soon birth is over and they have been prepared for what to expect—as much as one can even be prepared because that’s not fully possible. We process and document the birth story, eat delicious food, and feel safe to be completely honest through the resting period.

Having consistent support of a doula is a huge privilege that I pray will become and that I actively work towards making a more accessible means of care for all families. If you are an individual/family with the financial ability and heart’s desire to support another looking for doula services please send me an email at bloominalchemy@gmail.com.
